KITTERY SCHOOL DEPARTMENT FEASIBILITY STUDY

Your opinions, suggestions and questions are important.

Thank you for your interest in the Kittery School Department Feasibility Study.  This is an important study that outlines several major options and possible alternatives for the Kittery schools.  The central question that is being addressed by the Feasibility Study is this:

Is it economically feasible in the short and long term to continue to operate 4 schools, including Frisbee School, and what are the most viable feasible design options and grade level configurations for cost effective, efficient, high quality educational programming in Kittery?

CONSULTANTS
The architectural/engineering firm, WBRC from Portland, has been engaged to complete this study.  They started the project in January 2008 and will deliver their final report in mid April.  At the public forum held Tuesday evening, April 1, at the Shapleigh Middle School, many people participated and expressed their opinions, offered suggestions and asked questions about the Feasibility Study.  All of this input is necessary and very valuable for the School Committee as they move closer to a decision about the future of Kittery schools.

PROJECT TEAM
The School Committee established the Project Team to work closely with WBRC throughout the Feasibility Study.  This team consists of School Committee members Jeffrey Pelletier, Patti Ayer and David Batchelder.  Jim L’Heureux, Maintenance Director, and Larry Littlefield, Superintendent, also serve on the Project Team.
