                               Homework
On-going homework is to practice the spelling lists (high use words) I have sent home. On the class homepage, two "buttons" on the Ieft side will allow you to access two spelling lists with the high use words we're studying. I recommend 5-10 minutes,  five days a week of practice.  Vary the sessions with both written and oral practice, please.
I expect students will be reading for 15-20 minutes each day at home for at least 5 days a week.  Students or parents should record their book titles on their reading logs, and a parent should sign his or her name next to the title, indicating that the reading has taken place.  I would greatly appreciate parental support with the reading homework program.
Additional on-going homework is learning each addition and subtraction fact (0-18).  The fact is "known" if the answer is given in two seconds.  Once these facts are mastered, students should begin memorization of their multiplication facts.
All students need to practice their math facts, particularly the more challenging facts...sums greater than ten... and minuends between 10 and 18 and subtrahends between 5 and 9, when doing subtraction.
As a rule, students will have a math homelink (look for a yellow paper) or another math assignment to do for homework Monday-Thursday.
Please check your child's backpack in the morning to make sure s/he has the red plastic home/school folder, a snack, book bag, and any homework due that day.  I expect my students to be responsible for the prementioned items making it into their backpacks each day, but I also hope that parents will oversee this while my young students are learning this daily school responsibility.
 Math homework: practice facts.
