On Step-Up day, three fourth grade students asked questions. Thanks for your interest.
Here are your answers!

One from Mrs. Gagnon's class asked "if we are dissecting anything or are we doing a lot of mixing of chemicals. Cool." Remember the little vole skeleton that Mr. Smith showed you?
That was a result of dissecting the owl pellet.
We'll also be taking a closer look at insects and insect parts, like legs, wings, heads, etc.

Two questions came from Mrs. Krueger's class. "Where else are we going to for field  trips?" Hopefully we'll be going to the Portland Water Festival in May.
We will also be going somewhere fun for our DARE graduation in May or June.

The other question from Mrs. Krueger's student was "learning (about) birds? Do you pick a bird and do what?"  You choose a bird that you'd see in Maine, and you research it so you can make an informational bird brochure like the Hermit Thrush that Mr. Smith showed you.

I hope to have lots more curious students in September 2010, who are interested and excited about learning. Lets look forward to a great year learning about science, health, and your country
in Ms.Higgins's fifth grade classes.

Education is the key to the future.
Teachers are always grateful to those who advocate toward that endeavor.
I personally thank each and every parent who shares that goal.
