Mitchell Parent Nutrition Survey |
Last year the Health Coordinating Team undertook a self-assessment project of the Mitchell Nutrition Program. Commitment to nutrition and physical activity, school meals, other healthy food options, pleasant eating experiences, nutrition education and marketing were the areas that were investigated. To gather parent feedback about the nutrition program, a survey was distributed and 99 parents responded. Click here to see the
results. This year, the Health Coordinating Team will be taking a closer look at Frisbee's program. Stay tuned. |
PTA Nutrition Discussion Group |
The Health Coordinating Team and Elementary PTA have teamed up to offer a discussion series called, "Let's Talk About Food." Lisa Dinsmore, a local registered dietician and mother, has put together an eight part series about families and food. There is no cost to attend and free child care is provided by substitute teachers in the district. Refreshments are also offered, as well as a $20 gift certificate to Golden Harvest as a door prize each month. The program is held at Frisbee School (take a left at the main entrance) on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm. Lisa stays at the end of each program to offer additional help to families if needed. Click here for a flyer listing the discussion topics each month. |
School Safety |
Superintendent Littlefield gathered the Health Coordinating Team and other key players on November 1st to look closely at school security. Participants represented a broad cross-section of our school community. Mr. Littlefield outlined what measures are currently in place and in progress and asked for feedback from participants about possible further steps the school department could take. Click here to read the minutes from that meeting. |
