Student Health Data
Members of the Health Coordinating Team, Administrative Team and School Committee rely on student health data to inform decisions about programs and apply for grants. Several pieces of health data are linked below for your information.

Each year the school nurses measure students' height and weight in the fall. The Body Mass Index is calculated for youth by performing the following equation: (weight in kg)/(height in m)2. Further, for children, the resulting number is graphed on a chart developed for the child's age. The result is a percentile. Children between the 5th and 85th percentile are considered to be a healthy weight.

MYDAUS has been administered to students in grades 6 - 12 since 1998. The survey is given every-other year. The survey asks questions about drug and alcohol use, as well as risk and protective factors, which correlate to a child's resiliency. Students across Maine take MYDAUS, as it is administered by the Office of Substance Abuse. The link to the left will provide the state's 33 page summary report. |

The School Climate survey was developed by the Health Coordinating Team in 2003 and has been administered to staff in each of our four school buildings for the past four years. In the spring of 2005 students in grades 6-12 were asked to take the survey for the first time as well. It is not valid and reliable in a statistical sense, but valuable in providing an anonymous vehicle for students and staff to relate their experiences in our schools. The link to the left provides a summary of the discussion from the Leadership Team after a review of the data. |

Each year the Office of Substance Abuse requires school districts to submit data regarding suspensions and expulsions. Title IV (Safe and Drug Free Schools) funding is withheld until the data is submitted. The link to the left provides a summary of the previous years' IPB (Incidence of Prohibited Behavior) data, distilled only to the level required by OSA. |
